George County Mississippi Amateur Radio Emergency Services LLC

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES®) provides emergency communications for "Served Agencies" such as Emergency Management Agency, police and fire departments the America Red Cross, the National Weather Service, hospitals, and others. We also provide communications for public service events such as marathons, parades, bike riding events and boat races.

Individual ARES teams are organized at the county level in Mississippi. This is the web site of the ARES team serving George County, Mississippi.

Navajo Code Talkers

9:00 AM located at the old American Legion Building, 130 Beaver Dam Rd., Lucedale, Mississippi. This month's presentation will be a live Zoom meeting with Herb Goodluck N7HG the son of an original WWII Navajo Code Talker. Herb will be speaking on the history of the Navajo people, conception of the Code Talkers and their significant contribution to bring the end to WWII. This is an open house meeting to the public and to all who want to attend. More details about this event are available in the flyer.

DMR Repeaters

The Lucedale DMR repeater is up.

You can find it at 444.2000 MHz. We even have a list of talkgroups that are available.

Biloxi DMR Repeater now running!

You can find it at 444.9625 and there is a list of talkgroups.

Net Control Operators Needed

You do not need to be experienced. We have a script for you to follow.

We will teach you what you need to know and don't worry about making mistakes, we all do.

Huntsville Hamfest

The Huntsville Hamfest is August 17 & 18, 2024. This is the largest hamfest that is within a one-state radius of us.

New DMR Codeplug

We have free DMR codeplugs available, for the AnyTone AT-D878UVII Plus HT, AnyTone AT-D578UVIII Plus mobile, and the Radioddity GD-88 HT check out this page for details. These are more up-to-date than a "Super" codeplug that a popular vendor sells for $70. More to come!

Weekly 2 meter Voice Net

Our weekly ARES 2 meter net operates every Wednesday evening immediately following the Amateur Radio Newsline that starts at 7:37 PM Central Time. The net is on the KD4VVZ repeater, frequency 147.120 MHz with a positive offset and a tone of 136.5. All amateur operators are invited to participate.

Weekly Tech Net on DMR

There is now a new Tech Net on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM Central Time, on the Lucedale (Brandmeister 312801) DMR talkgroup. This is not ARES releated, but is a lot of fun.
